Adobe FrameMaker 7.0:
Importing and Exporting SGML/XML

Who should attend the course?

This specialist course is aimed at personnel responsible for implementing a full SGML or XML system in the workplace. This course will teach you how to use FrameMaker 7 to develop an application to import and export SGML and XML.

How long is the course?
1 or 2 Days

What are the benefits of attending?

The course will give you the skills necessary to prepare a FrameMaker 7 application capable of importing and exporting SGML and XML.

Through a series of practical exercises, you will learn about default import and export behaviour and then learn how to develop read/write rules to refine import and export behaviour. The course details the import and export of elements, attributes and attribute values. It explains how to refine the import and export of all object types, in particular graphics and tables. It teaches you how to handle entities of all types and how to prepare the FrameMaker 7 application you need.

What are the prerequisites?

You need to attend the Design Workshop and the EDD course or have an in-depth working knowledge of structured FrameMaker. A basic knowledge of SGML or XML is useful, but not essential.

You need to be familiar with PCs and the Windows environment.

Course Outline

This course is unscheduled and mainly run for individuals or small groups with similar goals in mind. This allows us to focus the course to your specific EDDs and DTDs. The course is hosted by one of our resident consultants who has many years experience at a high level with FrameMaker and structured publishing. The course may require our consultant to spend a day beforehand examining your DTDs to ensure you get the knowledge you need to create the FrameMaker import/export application.
